Strange but true - apparently the Romans had a thing for tables. According to the New York Times, 'the Romans held their tables in the highest estimations'. Seneca, apparently, 'possessed 500 small ones.' Who knew? After decades of function outweighing emotion, we are now seeing somewhat of a table revival. The latest trend in 'upcycling' has meant that we have decided to get creative with our furniture again, turning the old into new, the unwanted into coveted and the contents of next doors skip, into, well, the jury is still out on that one.
